Tree Removal for Anderson Homes

Tree removal is what’s left when a tree can no longer be kept. Anderson Tree & Stump Co. removes dead, damaged and unwanted trees in Anderson and nearby towns, starting with a free visit to see the tree and price the work.

The reasons vary. Some trees were broken by Helene and have been declining since. Some have grown into the eaves or the power drop. Some are healthy but stand where a driveway, a pool or an addition is planned.

Whatever the reason, tree cutting near a house is planned around what could be hit. Most trees in town come down a section at a time.

If you are unsure whether the whole tree has to go, ask. Often trimming takes care of the part that worries you and the tree stays.

For a tree that has already fallen, or is resting against the house, use the emergency page or phone us directly.

Call 864-581-2975 or send the form. It helps to know the approximate height and what is close to the trunk.

Signs a Tree May Need Removal

These are warning signs, not final answers. A look at the tree settles it.

Trees damaged in a storm can take a long time to show it. A tree that lost a large part of its crown, or was partly pushed over and settled back, may leaf out for a season or two and then fail. If a tree on your lot took a hard hit from Helene and has looked worse each year since, treat that as a sign too.

How a Tree Removal Is Done

1. Seeing the tree

The visit covers the tree’s condition, what surrounds it and how machinery can get close. The price follows. Decide at this stage whether to grind the stump and whether to keep any wood.

2. Taking it down

Few yards in Anderson have space to drop a tall tree whole, so most are cut down from the top in pieces. Branches come off first. The trunk is then cut in short sections, each lowered by rope or lifted away by crane, until only the base is left.

3. Cleaning up

Branches are chipped. The trunk is cut into lengths and removed unless you want it. The stump is left low to the ground, or ground away if stump grinding was included.

What remains afterward depends on what was agreed. With everything included, you are left with a raked yard and a patch of chips where the stump stood. With cutting only, the trunk and brush stay where they fell for you to deal with. Both are normal, and the price is different for each.

Should the Tree Be Removed or Trimmed?

Pruning fixes problems in the branches. If the concern is a limb over the roof, dead wood, or a crown grown heavy to one side, the tree can usually be kept.

Removal answers problems in the trunk and roots. Decay at the base, roots torn in a storm, or a dead tree cannot be corrected by cutting branches. Dead tree removal should not be put off for long, since the wood gets weaker and harder to work with each season.

If it isn’t clear which applies, call 864-581-2975. We’ll look at the tree and tell you what we see.

Common Tree Removal Questions

How much time does tree removal need?

That depends on size and surroundings. An open-grown tree of moderate height is a small job. A big tree that has to be roped down in pieces between buildings is a much larger one. The visit gives you a clear idea for your tree.

Can the wood be left for me?

It can. Ask during the visit and the logs will be cut to a length you can handle and set where you want them.

What happens to the grass?

Expect some wear where equipment travels and where wood comes down, especially on soft or wet ground. Point out anything delicate, like a septic field or newly laid sod, and the work can be planned to avoid it.
